The B Family {Catonsville Family Photographer}
One of the most wonderful things about being a photographer is capturing precious moments of the people you love and seeing the joy in those moments. One of my oldest friends approached me to take her family pictures and I couldn’t have been more thrilled. She and I go way back to when we were only 6 years old! To see where our lives have taken us and the families that we now have has been an amazing journey. Through the craziness of the teenage years to transitioning into adulthood and finding ourselves, our friendship has grown. And although busy schedules can take over occasionally it is always a comfort to have someone you know you can call on. I can only hope that the B family enjoys their pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them. I often talk about the experience of having family pictures taken this way, instead of in a chain studio, and while I always enjoy meeting new families and getting to know new people, you just can’t beat spending an afternoon with your oldest friend and her beautiful family.

Celebrating the stages
This afternoon I decided to play around with some new equipment I recently purchased and attempted to corral the children to be subjects. The older three, having had their pictures taken recently, weren’t to interested so I ended up working with the only one who can’t run away. (Or walk or crawl for that matter) Although it wasn’t what I had in mind it turned out to be a wonderful way to celebrate a phase of my sons life that may not have been celebrated otherwise. This is a phase every baby goes through that for the sake of this post I have decided to call the “open mouth” phase. This is the phase that occurs usually while teething and in which the child attacks everything with an open mouth and plentiful drool. Little David is in this phase. It doesn’t really matter what he’s doing. Smiling, crying, playing…it is all done with a gaping mouth and lots of saliva. I think my favorite part of this stage is when I pick him up and he loving grabs my hair, or my ear, or my necklace and attacks my face. What I don’t love about this stage is that I am constantly changing my shirt. Anyway, today while taking pictures, David showed off his new skills so I decided to share them with you. :P
And then he told me it was time to stop taking pictures. :P
Growing Up
Watching kids grow up is one of the coolest yet humbling things an adult can do. My beautiful niece (pictured) and my daughter are turning four, starting pre-school and growing by the minute. The problem is that this means I am getting old!!! My first batch of first graders is now in eighth grade and I am just months away from the big 30! Anyway, this little one just gets more and more beautiful every day. Daddy is going to have to start keeping that baseball bat handy! It has been so much fun watching all my nieces and nephews grow up and it’s only going to get better…and probably more interesting…as the years go by. But for now we celebrate her as the older but still little four year old that she is. Love ya little girl!

Beach Trip
Last week my family and I were at Emerald Isle in North Carolina for our beach vacation. We had a fabulous time playing and relaxing, but mostly playing.
We grabbed a few shutter clicks on the back porch that I thought I’d share with you. So here we are.
The newly expanded family of four.

Our Baby Bundle is on the way!
We are two months away! Our new baby boy will be coming mid June! You may have noticed that I have slowed down with my posts recently. Part of this was being buried in snow this winter and recently it’s because I’ve hit the third trimester of my pregnancy and with that comes an early bedtime most nights! I’ve got some fun shoots coming up soon though that I really look forward to sharing with everyone, including the one I just posted on (See: Savage Sunshine)
I wanted to give everyone a heads up that I will be taking some time off when our little boy arrives! I will schedule through May and try to get in everyone that I can during this time (there’s lots of BEAUTIFUL stuff blooming right now!!) and will probably pick back up sometime in August. Of course, I’ll be shooting my own children rather extensively during this next stage of our lives so keep checking in to meet our newest addition! I already have a few new ideas for newborn shots that I would only feel comfortable trying first on my own children!
New Tutu :)
My little one modeling a new tutu I recently purchased. She put it on the minute the UPS man dropped it off and wouldn’t take it off until bedtime. I think she likes it. ![]()

Last Weekend of Our Summer
This summer was a great summer for us as a family. My husband is a teacher so our summers are a bit atypical than most I think. We normally have a wacky schedule of tutoring, grad classes, helping out his dad with his business and random stuff thrown in. This summer I spent three days a week taking care of my niece and nephew while Brandon spent most of his time on a distance learning class that allowed him to be home but working for most of the day. Because he was home a lot B got really used to having him around and I am afraid she will be very sad once he starts work again full time tomorrow. Anyway, we had the opportunity to spend our last weekend of summer with good friends at their beach/bay house on the Eastern Shore. We had an amazing time just relaxing, taking out the kayaks, boat and waverunners, and heading to the beach in the afternoons. B even went on the waverunner with us and we cracked up laughing when she starting shouting, “Just go Daddy! Just go faster!” This is a family that I have known for ages (since I was 6 years old) and time with them is just so comfortable. Though life takes over and we don’t see them as much as we would like, when we do see them everything just falls into place and it is all just so easy. So needless to say, we had a great time! It was a great ending to our great summer that we got to spend with great people. So a big thanks to the Slater/Bush family for inviting us into your wonderful home. We had such a blast and could never repay you for the friendship and generosity that you have shown us over the many years.
