Vacation!!
We went on vacation!!!! And of course what is a beach vacation without a beach photo shoot of the adorable children that come along with you. This year we went to Kure Beach North Carolina with a small part of our wonderful family. We have had a blast and except for today (yes, I am writing this from our beach house) we have had great weather. Today was our beach photo shoot day and even though we checked the weather on Tuesday, wouldn’t you know, we woke up to rain this morning and a forecast of rain all day long. So when the sky finally cleared around nap time we thought we were in luck! We hurried to dress the girls and get them onto the beach figuring that it would start raining any minute an we wouldn’t finish. The girls were grupmy…it was naptime…they were not friends. We did our shoot fearing for rain the entire time, finished up, headed home. IT NEVER RAINED AGAIN!! In fact it was sunny for the rest of the day! We even got pool time in! The lesson for this week. Don’t trust the weather forecast!

Lesson Learned
Today’s lesson: Life is short, Tiger lillies don’t last forever.
So there is this spot right off Frederick Road that we drive by quite often that is an old stone wall with a garden of Tiger Lillies behind it. It’s a beautiful spot and for quite some time now I’ve been telling myself that I have to take B there when the time is right to take some pictures. Well the time was perfect. I saw them in bloom. I thought, “Yes! I’ve been waiting all year for this!” But then life got busy. I kept telling myself that they’d still be there next week…next week…finally this week. We went, they were gone. BUT we had already made a day of it, dressed up, dinner, AND I had promised my little girl a treat back home if she let me take pictures. (She’s so tired of the camera by now, it’s bribery all the way!) SO here is the product of today’s little mini-session sans lillies. So sad. Perhaps next summer. :)

Happy Fourth of July!
I hope everyone had a fun and safe fourth of July weekend! We had a fantastic time at our usual Fourth location. Good friends, good food, and good fun. This has been a tradition for us for several years now and has just become better with the addition of kids. True, we are no longer awake at 3 a.m. playing poker or jumping off the roofs of lakeside sheds but there is nothing sweeter then watching your kids enjoy the boat rides, kayak rides, swimming, waverunners, fireworks and everything else that this weekend has come to offer. The lake was crowded with kids this year so there was never a dull moment. Anything from catching minnows to building sand castles to the very first firework is more exciting through the eyes of your children. The conversations have changed from discussing late night crazy moments to what it will be like when the kids are driving the boat and doing the water skiing and we are sitting on the dock arranging marriages and praying that no one hurts themselves when thrown off the tube. The lake holds many memories and firsts for all the generations of people who come to celebrate the fourth. For our little one this year there was the mini-swim lessons, catching and kissing minnows and being awake for her first fireworks show even though she did not particularly enjoy the noise. Speaking of; the fireworks show this year was better than ever and even with all the TNT on the dock, all the boys came home in one piece praise God. Thanks so much to the Reed family for having us down year after year and providing a fun and safe atmosphere to celebrate and spend time with good friends. We love you all! Here are a few of my favorites from this years extravaganza. Happy Father’s Day!
Hey!! Happy Father’s Day to all those Daddy’s out there! I wanted to share with you a slideshow that I made for Brandon this year. He is such a wonderful husband and father and he works so hard for us. As I type he’s downstairs with Bre playing and dancing in the living room. When I heard this song I new it would be perfect for a show for Brandon. It’s called Daddy-O by Frances England. Bre often calls Brandon Daddy-O and the lyrics just fit their relationship as Daddy and daughter perfectly. Enjoy!!
**I took off the password protection because it’s already protected through You Tube. If you wish to see it, shoot me an e-mail lhonza81@yahoo.com and I’ll add you as a friend. Then once you accept I have to add you as a viewer for this particular video (I know it’s a hassle right!) so it won’t work right away. So much for instant gratification.

This weekend we learned…
That our wonderful little one is terribly afraid of catfish.

We went to our favorite weekend vacation spot for a friends birthday and while there we fished off the dock. Little Miss. B thought the worms were cool for maybe a few seconds and the catfish were horrible. I don’t blame her, catfish are extremely ugly.
She was brave enough to touch a ‘regular looking’ fish that our friend caught though. All in all it was a great weekend. Happy Birthday Brad.

Art and Soul
I am doing a photo show at my church in a few weeks so I thought I would put up a sneak preview of what is going to be shown in print. Come on over if you want, it’ll be displayed on May 31st.
Just for Giggles
This is not photography related at all but I thought I’d share because it’s just so darn cute. My daughter and I were talking about how when we go to Gi Gi’s house to dig up flowers, we will get dirty. She says but Mommy, Rocket (her favorite cartoon character) doesn’t get dirty when he digs. So I explain that he doesn’t get dirty because he is a cartoon character. So she pipes right up and says, “When I grow up, I be a cartoon!” This came the day after she thought it was so unfair that Cody (our dog) doesn’t have hands because he can’t play with bubbles.
